DC: The New Frontier (Panel by Panel Discussion)

The boys from the NE return to the bar and they've brought along their Novice Elitists brand jackhammers and hard hats. That's right folks, your pair of buds are once again breaking new ground on the podcast as we try our first attempt at a comic book review!
Taking a panel by panel deep dive, we discuss Darwyn Cooke's superhero magnum opus, DC: The New Frontier.
The runtime got away from us on this one, but we couldn't be happier to finally dip our toes into the wider world of comic book coverage. So keep an eye out for more comic book reviews in the future. (probably at shorter runtimes) 🤟

TNE Speakeasy: Bonus #9 (Chatting DC & Marvel ft. Jason)

Continuing to pull some recordings from the TNE archives, we come to some of the pre-recorded material from our very first recording session with friend of the show Jason. In order to loosen up for our dive into Superman: In Brightest Day, the boys took a walk down the road to the TNE speakeasy, and tossed back a couple of drinks as they had a rousing discussion centered on the film and television iterations of The Big Two. It's a laid back kind of show, so come pop it on and settle in with your boys from the NE. 

P.S. You might notice a distinct absence of Mr. Caleb for most of the episode--Those pesky covid inspectors showed up again to make sure we were keeping to covid regulations. And he had to bribe them with booze to keep'em quie--uh, I mean, give them the grand tour to confirm that everything was done illegally--fuck! I meant legally! Jeez, better quit while I'm ahead.

TNE Speakeasy: Bonus #5 (A Trip Down Memory Lane via Lego Mags and Galidor)

Things are getting funky on the TNE feed timeline. Due to some mixed up release schedules, two of our past Speakeasy shows got lost in the shuffle and never saw the light of day--Until now! This episode was a jumble of two extended stingers that ended up being too long for their episodes, and have been collected here for your listening pleasure. The latter half of the show includes an impromptu commentary on the first episode of the series Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension. (One you should definitely watch along with your hosts, as a lot of it is just watching the episode). Bonus episode 4 should be out next week, but until then, enjoy the show, and write in if you remember any of the shows we mention on our nostalgia jag.

#6 The Godzilla monster mash series returns to the TNE feed, and friend of the show Eric has once again joined the boys to lend his thoughts on the 1998 summer spectacular, Godzilla. TNE Speakeasy: Bonus #8 (And Now For Something Completely Different ft. Aaron and Zach)

The boys from the NE return to the bar yet again, and once more they've brought some guests along with them! Our first ever guest Aaron marks his return to the show, and this time his brother Zach has come along as well. (Although due to unforeseen road fissures opening up along his commute, he doesn't show up until about 25 minutes into the show)

But unlike the normal Novice Elitists episodes, this time we waded away from our usual film/comic/video game talk, and instead turned our conversation more towards the philosophical. We discuss a bit about our thoughts on the afterlife, religion, and even some global politics. So if that kind of stuff is not to your fancy, stay tuned for our upcoming commentary on Godzilla (1998). The Novice Elitists return from a long hiatus from the realm of DC related content, as well as a long break from covering suggested picks by friend of the show Jason. But have no fear dear listener, not only are we back on the train of covering both of those things, but we're also furthering the trend of bringing new guests on the podcast, and this time it's Jason himself! Jaws 3-D (1983) Commentary

The Novice Elitists return to shark infested waters once again, but this time we've brought some back up with us. Friend of the show Johnny makes his follow-up on the show, as we once again watch a film with 3-D in the title. (A fact that none of us realized at the time, and never brought up) But this time we're covering one with 100% more sharks, so hey, that's something! And if you're fan of shark related movies, stay tuned till the end for some spoilers on future shark related content coming down the podcast pipe line.

The Wicked City (1992) Commentary

The Novice Elitists Boys return with our first episode recorded in 2021! And to kick off the party, we decided to return to a retrospective that Mr. Isaac kicked off back during our recent Halloween escapades, and see what's what in this second attempt at adapting the Hideyuki Kikuchi series, Wicked City. Will the boys enjoy this live action attempt more than the infamous anime version?
